Tenants can only register the lease after the landlord's deadline has passed.
Legal Registration Timeline:
Landlords have until theend of the following month after the lease start dateto declare the contract.
Example:
- Lease starts: October 1, 2026
- Landlord deadline: November 30, 2026
- Tenant can register from: December 1, 2026

How to Check if Your Lease Was Already Registered

How to Register a Rental Contract Yourself (2025 Guide)
Step 1: Log into the Finanças Portal
Step 2: Go to the Rental Declarations Area:Tenant Registration Portal (Inquilinos) -Click “Comunicar” to start the registration.
Step 3: Fill in Contract Information
- Contract Reference:Any label to help you identify the lease.
- Contract Type:Regular rental (most common), Sublease, Promise of lease (rare)

10% of one month’s rent × number of years in the lease. Example:

Once submitted, you’ll receive a payment reference number. Pay via:
